Although it may be easy to get along with those whose mindset is similar to ours, the real challenge is getting along with those who think differently than us and adhere to an entirely different system of beliefs and values.
At times, getting along with a stranger, or a colleague at work is like the proverbial oil and water; the two don’t mix; yet if we try hard enough, we can find a common ground — a compromise of sorts.
Let’s face it, attempting to get along with people who think differently than us can be very challenging at times and the output could prove more complicated than the process of engaging in a political debate.
Luckily, getting along with those of a different mindset is not impossible; a major part of it is: making the effort to understand things from their perspective and seeing to it that they clearly understand things from your perspective and them making the conscientious effort to compromise.
The reality is: it is possible to get along with those who think differently than us and there is really no need to start a war to get our point of view across to the other party or parties involved.
