International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on the 8th of March; its main purpose is to celebrate women’s achievements throughout history and around the globe.
On this day, countless women speak out against abuse, economic struggle and inequality in the areas of politics, the workplace and shed light on the reality of gender-based violence.
I am ashamed to say that in this modern era — the twenty-first century, many women are still treated as second class citizens (This needs to stop).
All men need to remember that they came out of their mother’s womb; even though the man planted his seed (fertilised the woman’s egg with the aid of his sperm), it was the woman that gave birth; for this, she should be truly honoured.
Everyone needs to know (especially our political leaders), that women are human beings who should be given equal treatment in today’s society.
Let us not forget that many of us have sisters, daughters, aunts, wives, mothers and grandmothers; obviously, if we LOVE them sincerely, we would want to cherish them by giving them the royal treatment.
So, I wish all women around the world the best in all of their endeavours on this special day — International Women’s day.
