Canada Makes A Stance Against Pollution From Arctic Shipping

Polar BearsRecently, Canada made a proposal during the negotiations for a mandatory global shipping code in the Arctic (They are tired of all those oily wastes and other forms of garbage in that northern region).

Canada has obtained the support of several countries including France and Germany.

Lars Erik Mangset of The Wordlife Fund said, “Canada actually took quite good leadership on this issue.”

Spokeswoman Kelly James said, “Canada continues to support the development of an international polar code that would provide an equivalent level of safety and environmental protection to that of our law.”

The suggested recommendations stated that the dumping of oil, oily waste and garbage into any part of the Arctic be against international law.

Scented Candles

Scented CandlesToday, I had that inner urge to photograph something. So, I took a snapshot of these scented candles; I think that they look great. So far, random photos of mine have  proven themselves to be rather successful. Enjoy!

A Quotation About The Dalai Lama’s Philosophy On Life

Dalai LamaEvery day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others; to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can. — The Dalai Lama

Having The Right Kind Of Friends Can Have A Positive Impact On Your Life

FriendsHow many of your friends are truly supportive of your endeavours?

You might share a business idea with some friends and get mixed reactions; some of them will tell you that there is no way in God’s green Earth that the plan of yours is ever going to come into fruition. While another portion of your friends will encourage you to give it all that you have got. And then, there are those who would be neutral about the whole thing; they may not comprehend your idea or it simply doesn’t interest them.

In lots of instances, it is easier for us to acquire our goals when we associate ourselves with positive like-minded people.

Some people have failed at realising that having negative people around them can drag them down; it is like a figurative iron-ball chained to their ankles; they are unable to raise to success.

What kind of friends do you associate yourself with? Is it the positive kind? Or, is it the negative kind? Or, is it the neutral type?

For your sake, I hope you have chosen your friends wisely.

Adequacy By Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Elizabeth Barrett Browning

NOW, by the verdure on thy thousand hills,
Beloved England, doth the earth appear
Quite good enough for men to overbear
The will of God in, with rebellious wills !
We cannot say the morning-sun fulfils
Ingloriously its course, nor that the clear
Strong stars without significance insphere
Our habitation: we, meantime, our ills
Heap up against this good and lift a cry
Against this work-day world, this ill-spread feast,
As if ourselves were better certainly
Than what we come to. Maker and High Priest,
I ask thee not my joys to multiply,–
Only to make me worthier of the least.

Just Pondering Part 364

Paulo Coelho Gold Diamonds Fountain PenWhen I was a very young child, I attended a catholic pre-school; it was fairly okay. I got the privilege to socialize with other children around my age.

We did basic work like reciting the alphabet, learning words and writing them and the teachers saw to it that we were occupied with lots of art and craft; things that kept the pre-schooler busy.

I never understood why at a certain time of the day, the teachers would demand that we place our heads down on our desks and take a nap; I never slept and I don’t think that the other children slept either. We did our best Oscar performance — we pretended to sleep.

Was that the teacher’s way of indirectly saying to us that we burnt her out and she needed some time to herself to recuperate? Maybe, maybe not. It was probably a routine taught to her by her superiors — a method designed to show who was the one in charge.

I clearly remembered at that age, I was highly energetic. I was like a young Energizer bunny; I kept going and going.

In my opinion, the teacher should have given us some time to dabble further in art instead of asking us to take a nap.

In the end, it all worked out well for the children and the teachers were all doing their best at their jobs.

The Origin Of The Easter Bunny

Easter BunnyThe symbol of the Easter Bunny is synonymous with our modern method of celebrating Easter.

The Easter Bunny, like Easter, has roots that go all the way back to the Pre-Christian, Anglo-Saxon history. Those of us who dug deeply into Easter’s history would have found out that this holiday was actually an original Pagan celebration; it was one where people worshipped the goddess of fertility and springtime — Eastre. The rabbit was Eastre’s earthly symbol.

The Topic Issue

Pen And PaperThere are times when I have wondered: “Have I written about this before?” I have dealt with numerous topics and it can be quite a task to keep track of them; my archives are rather large and it takes me sometime to peruse them.

Luckily, there are things that happen around me and I could write about them (Fresh material for WordPress).

Some people would walk about, turn and twist and hope that a topic pops into their head; not me; I simply choose one at random and work at it (Yes, I recommend choosing one out of the blue, because you may spend your whole day trying to find one and that is a lot of time wasted).

So far, I have kept them coming with ease. I am happy to say that I do not have writer’s block. The only problem is: I might be in a mood to do more reading than writing; other than that, I am good to go.

I have made it my priority to post topics that are entertaining and informative and I will continue to do so.
