We Are Capable Of Choosing Our Own Music

Billboard Magazine, radio and especially the television likes to tell us (or influence us into thinking) about the type of music that we should be listening to; they enjoy telling us that a particular artiste of their choice is the next big thing; that type of information is forced down our throats figuratively.

Why should someone have to tell us what genre of music we should like?

The music industry can be somewhat manipulative. In order for their product to sell, they would spend large sums of money to convince the masses that this singer or that musician is the best superstar around.

There are a lot of good independent musicians around that nobody hears about.

For quite sometime, I have been ignoring my local radio stations, because most of them only want to play tunes that comprises of the top twenty according to Billboard Magazine.

Like many of you, I am privileged to have the internet; I would sometimes utilize it to find musical artistes that the average person doesn’t know about.

Also, it is highly refreshing to listen to something new — something other than what is played in heavy rotation on the radio.

For the record, there are many talented singers and musical artistes within Billboard Magazine. However, Billboard Magazine can never have them all.

The world is filled with wonderful music and we cannot rely on the mainstream media to shed light on the countless musicians and singers; that is why we have to do our occasional or regular searches to find those proverbial Underdogs — the countless talented musicians and singers from behind the veil.
