There are times when I wonder: What are the real reasons for having cctv throughout the country? Are they there to enhance the work of law enforcement officials? Or, is it something more sinister?
You go to the mall and there are cameras everywhere; I understand that these cameras are used to assist in catching perpetrators such as shoplifters and various other types of criminal activities.
Believe it or not, there are cameras placed at strategic areas of some schools and they are installed at many workplaces.
In many developed countries, closed circuit television is at almost every street corner. Some people have felt as though their privacy have been severely violated. Then there are those who think that it is some part of a sinister plot to monitor everyone.
I am concerned about that fact that some nefarious group of individuals could be using cctv to their advantage and it is not only being utilized by law enforcement agencies and by authorized law abiding citizens.
What do you think about the situation of cctv being placed almost everywhere? Do you think that it is a cause for concern? Or, should we all relax and get with the program?
the scary part is that no one really knows who is using all this technology – seems like a scenario for a science fiction movie – makes me think of soilent green or that old “to serve man” theory
[ Smiles ] Yes, it really makes you wonder: “Who is behind all of this?”
Thank you for your input.
CCTV gives the illusion of safety for the citizen and the illusion of control for the ruler. They are in the main a huge waste of resources. We in the UK are the most watched people in the world,
[ Gasps ] The most watched in the world? Alex, that sounds rather frightening.
Hmmm. A psychological mind-game based on illusion.
Thank you for your valuable input.
