There comes a time in our lives when we need to know who our true friends are.
Unfortunately, some of the people who we consider friends are there to see what they can get from us; especially if we are well-off financially. They come running to us with their sad story hoping that we empathise with them; they are good psychologists by nature and they know how to press our figurative buttons. Before we could think twice about the situation, we end up lending them money (And if they are really smooth, we end up giving them our money or some material possession that they desire).
There is always someone out there who think that they can have it quite easy by leaching off of others.
Now, there would be those friends of ours who would be in genuine need of financial assistance. However, if the same person or people come to you with sad stories on a regular basis and wanting monetary assistance, you can definitely count on something being wrong; there is a huge chance that they could be pulling off their best Oscar winning performance — a well-planned performance specially crafted to con you out of what they desire.
Its a matter of responding with our own sad story.
[ Smiles ] Thank you for sharing your perspective!
Unfortunately, I know several of these, but after being used the first time or two, I learned. Just say no… LOL.
[ Laughs ] You’re a quick learner.
All friends need to be watched as given a chance they can all parasite upon you. This is human nature.
[ Smiles ] Hmmm. Something to seriously consider.
