Just Pondering Part 291

Some Nice Tips For Old And New Bloggers Part 2My grandmother (My father’s mother) was a rather unique woman. Her kind, loving and generous personality would always be remembered by those who knew her. Even though she passed away many years ago, the memory of her will always remain in my mind.

Here is one of the memories that stood out: Before going to sleep at night, she would say her prayers and after praying to the Creator, she would go outside and talk to both of her dogs individually; she made it her priority to say, “Goodnight, Rex.” And, “Goodnight, Barnabas.”

Now, how many people do you know that tell their dogs, “Goodnight,” before going to sleep? Maybe, a small number of people, or probably none at all.

Although, I may not remember to tell my dog, “Goodnight,” on a nightly basis, I always see to it that I tell her, “Good morning.” Some people may perceive such behaviour as being strange, but when one truly sees their beloved pet as a part of their family, they treat them as such.

  2. I hesitate to admit that, in his later years, my dog enjoyed a lullaby at night before he went to sleep. But we were a weird mob…

  3. While I find this story very touching and wonderful, I have to say I wish people would at least say good night to each other! Your grandmother was rare, for in today’s world we rarely say goodnight to each other. We have lost so much connection it is frightening. I pray for the day we are all connected again, animal and people alike! Thanks! VK

  4. I have two cats and I could not imagine not giving them both a hug and kiss good night. Actually, I think they look forward to it as they do nuzzle me back. I wish this for all pets!

  5. All animals are sentient beings, so why not talk to them, addressing their vitality and existence; all animals appreciate the attention given, and will reward it likewise.
