I was never fond of hot tea as a child; back then, I would place ice cubes in the cup of tea to get it cold.
My appreciation for hot tea grew when I was a teenager. The consumption of cold beverages first thing in the morning took its toll on me. I developed a horrible gas pain in my chest; I remembered trying to hold my breath as long as I could, because every time I took a breath of fresh air, I felt a piercing pain close to my heart. A hot cup of tea aided in the removal of that unwanted gas.
Today, I still drink cold beverages; however, I keep them to a minimum and I always make it my priority to start the day with a portion of hot tea. Gone are the days when I had to pound repeatedly on my chest like King Kong to expel the gas.
The irony is: the thing I avoided as a child, is now my favourite beverage — Piping hot tea!
I have an assortment of various teas, so it is a little difficult for me to get bored of drinking it. I am always willing to make anytime teatime.
